CuriosaMente @curiosamente

If you speak Spanish, you may already know CuriosaMente. If you don't, it's one of the best reasons to turn on captions this year. The channel is made in Guadalajara by Estudio Haini, the animation studio Tonatiuh Moreno co-founded in 2005, with a team of about 12 people who research, write, animate and produce every video. Episodes are animated explainers, usually 8 to 12 minutes (some longer), on science, history, health and culture, and they don't talk down to anyone. Moreno holds a master's in science and culture communication from ITESO, and his work was recognized with Jalisco's State Science and Technology Prize (2015–2016). Why now: the channel publishes on a steady weekly rhythm (its description promises a new video every Sunday at 8:00 am), and its last three long videos range from Mexico's Cristero War to who legally owns the Moon. All three have Spanish (Latin America) captions; auto-translate in the player can turn them into your language.

Why now: Steady weekly uploads; three new long-form episodes in the past three weeks.
Upload rhythm: New videos every Sunday, 8:00 am (per the channel description)

⭐ Under 10K Spotlight

Intra: a devlog about the hardest part of making a game

Most game-dev channels show the fun part. Intra, a Netherlands-based creator whose channel description says 'I'm obsessed with game design!', makes devlogs about the part that stops most people: starting. The two newest videos, 'Manipulating Myself Into Working On My Game' (Oct 1) and 'Fixing My Procrastination To Build My Game' (Oct 13), follow the creator's own project with open talk about creative blocks. The back catalog covers learning Unreal Engine 5 from scratch, making 3D assets, and game-design critiques. The channel had 7.07K subscribers and 76 videos when we checked via the YouTube Data API on 2026-10-15. If you're a viewer, it's a cozy, honest watch. If you're a creator, it shows that a personal, consistent format can stand out even in a crowded niche.

Super Simple Songs (Seal review pending)

Super Simple Songs is a Canadian channel of nursery rhymes, original songs and animated videos that it describes as made for children aged 1 to 8. It uploads several times a month. Right now that means Halloween songs and a live 'Trick or Treat' stream. We're listing it as Seal review pending, not Parent-Approved. A ChannelZap reviewer hasn't yet watched the 10-video sample our checklist requires, and we haven't confirmed the channel's made-for-kids setting through YouTube's API. We'll publish the full result once the review is done.

Checked so far

  • Channel states its target age (1–8) in its description
  • Country listed as Canada on the channel page / API (CA)
  • Steady upload history (906 public videos per API on 2026-10-15)
  • Subscriber band 1M+ (47.1M) per API on 2026-10-15

Still to check

  • Watch the 10-video sample (5 newest, 3 most popular, 2 random) and any Shorts
  • Confirm status.madeForKids via the YouTube Data API (field absent in this channels.list response; re-check or use Videos.list on a sample)
  • Check sponsored/merch content is clearly labeled
  • Check description links

How the seal works: Kid-Safe criteria. The seal is never for sale.

🎬 Creator Desk · Beginner Guide

Launch your first channel: the 6 settings that matter on day one

Week 1 normally runs a First-1,000 Subscribers Autopsy. Autopsies are only published from interviews with creators who opt in, and we don't have one yet. Want to be our first? Reply to this email.

1) Create the channel with a Brand Account if anyone else will ever help you run it, so you can add managers later. 2) Pick a name and handle you can keep. 3) Verify your phone number to unlock intermediate features: videos longer than 15 minutes, custom thumbnails and live streaming from a computer. 4) Set your audience (made for kids or not) at the channel level. It's legally required everywhere, and kids' content loses comments, notifications and personalized ads. 5) Turn on 2-Step Verification now, because the YouTube Partner Program requires it. 6) Know the target: today YPP ad revenue needs 1,000 subscribers plus 4,000 public watch hours in 12 months, or 10M Shorts views in 90 days. For new applicants from Feb 1, 2027, that becomes 8,000 watch hours or 20M Shorts views. The full guide has every step, with YouTube Help links.

ElevenLabs Dubbing

Starter $6/mo (30,000 credits); Creator $22/mo (121,000 credits)

ElevenLabs sells AI voice and dubbing tools, all paid from one monthly pool of credits. The dubbing math is what creators need to know. Automatic dubbing costs 2,000 credits a minute with a watermark or 3,000 without. Dubbing Studio, where you can edit the transcript and timing, costs 5,000 or 10,000. So the $6 Starter plan covers about 10 minutes a month of watermark-free automatic dubbing, or 3 minutes in Dubbing Studio. The $22 Creator plan covers about 40 minutes of automatic dubbing.

Verdict: Good for dubbing a few key videos by hand into a language YouTube's free auto dubbing doesn't offer for your source language. For a whole back catalog, try YouTube's built-in automatic dubbing first. It's free, but you can't edit those dubs.
Who it's for: Creators testing one new language on their best 2–3 videos.

Questions about this issue

How did ChannelZap pick the channels in issue #1?

Each channel was found through web and YouTube search, then checked on its public YouTube channel page on Oct 15, 2026 for country, subscriber count and recent uploads. The grid follows our rules: one channel per country, at least three continents, and at least two non-English channels.

What does 'Seal review pending' mean?

It means the channel is a candidate for our Parent-Approved Seal, but a reviewer hasn't finished the 10-item checklist yet. We never show the seal until every item passes.

Why do you show subscriber bands instead of exact numbers?

YouTube rounds public subscriber counts, and they change daily, so bands (like 1–10K or 1M+) are more honest. We also note the date we checked.
